After we broke up, I wrote this poem for Wendy Isaacson, a high school sweetheart of mine. It was well-received by her and was the chief motivating factor in reuniting us as a couple. I later put it to music, adding a chorus and title.
Remember way back before?
You loved me once and I loved you more.
The letters we wrote are all lost,
With our memories in a pile tossed.
The book of past is under dirt.
They say that time will make unhurt,
But I wished that you loved me again.
Make the sun stop the rain,
Because, I still love you.
You’re full of style and grace.
And I still love you.
In my card deck, you’re an ace.
And I still love you.
Your presence delineates a power unleashed.
Your pleasing features have been masterpieced.
Your twisted mind is enchanting.
Is your loving knot still extanting?
I moan and cry everyday,
For that special something, that special way,
In which, you looked at me and I looked at you.
Our thoughts combined, our bond was true.
Because, I still love you.
You’re full of style and grace.
And I still love you.
In my card deck, you’re an ace.
And I still love you
